The 2007 Minor League Baseball Promotional Seminar is just around the corner. This year's event will take place in Birmingham, AL, home of the Birmingham Barons. We are excited to head to this great city to mingle with old friends, meet new friends, share ideas and strategies along with having fun! The Minor League Baseball Promotional Seminar provides an atmosphere for attendees to come together and learn what did and did not work within sports.

This year's seminar will feature breakout sessions/workshops on Wednesday afternoon. The breakout sessions/workshops will give attendees the opportunity to customize their seminar experience, choosing to listen to the topics they will benefit from most . The focus of the breakout sessions/workshops will be Game Entertainment and Ticket Sales.

This is a great opportunity for sports executives industry wide. Not only for the job listings and knowledge from the Seminar presentations, but for the networking opportunities. The Seminar will also feature social events including a Welcome Reception at the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame presented by the Greater Birmingham CVB, and a cocktail party at Rickwood Field followed by the Regions Park outing presented by HOK Sport on Wednesday evening. Thursday evening the seminar will feature a cocktail party on the exhibit floor and an event at WorkPlay presented to you by Outdoor Cap Company, Inc. All of these events will give attendees a chance to socialize and enjoy cocktails and snacks, along with featured entertainment.

Breakfast will be served all three (3) days on the Exhibit Floor. Lunch and dessert will also be available around the Exhibit Floor on Wednesday and Thursday. Friday’s lunch will be available in a box lunch style to accommodate attendees that need to catch flights that day.

Exhibits will be set-up for a 2-day show next to the seminar floor again this year, to offer you an opportunity to check out some of the latest products and services on the market and to get a head start on the 2008 buying season.     Experience Background:

The person hired for this position must be able to handle multiple projects, meet deadlines and achieve stated goals. Strong planning and organizational skills along with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office and graphics programs are desired and preferred.

    Physical Requirements:
    Extended hours of work between the months of March to September. Candidate must have the ability to handle stress in a fast paced environment.

    Compensation:
    Salary based on experience plus commissions and bonuses based on direct sales efforts. Bonuses based on team’s profitability. Health insurance benefits are available after 60 days of continuous service.

Description: Join our Sales Team and help us grow the game of baseball worldwide "The Ripken Way."

As an Account Executive you will be responsible for generating ticket sales for the Augusta GreenJackets. The Account Executive’s primary responsibility is to produce group ticket revenue by maintaining and renewing existing group ticket accounts. Account Executives must also sell new group accounts through outside sales appointments with corporate decision maker’s within businesses and non-profit organizations. This position involves relationship building, mainly through phone conversations.
In order to be considered for this position you must:

This position is responsible for organizing, coordinating and integrating assigned day-to-day operations, events and activities at the City’s Sports Complex so that end users, professional baseball organizations, and spectators have an enjoyable experience in a safe and secure environment. The Operations Supervisor ensures that the City’s facilities are well-maintained and in accordance with City, user contract and departmental policies, procedures, and guidelines. The ideal candidate works well under pressure, beats deadlines, thrives in a team-oriented, customer-focused environment and is adept at multi-tasking. This candidate will possess solid organization skills and be able to properly prioritize activities and resolve day-to-day issues with strong communication and problem solving abilities.

The Operations Supervisor plans, organizes and maintains the facility schedule including attracting new events and revenue streams, administering lease agreements and coordinating scheduled activities. The Supervisor manages vendor contracts to include concessions, the non-profit volunteer organization, ticketing provider and MLB teams. Bachelor’s degree with major coursework in recreation, business administration, parks management, facility operation, public administration or a related field. Preference will be given to candidates with a background in baseball operations.

Description: Aberdeen IronBirds – Account Executive

Join our Sales Team and help us grow the game of baseball worldwide "The Ripken Way."

As an Account Executive you will be responsible for generating ticket sales for the Aberdeen IronBirds. The Account Executive’s primary responsibility is to produce group ticket revenue by maintaining and renewing existing group ticket accounts. Account Executives must also sell new group accounts through outside sales appointments with corporate decision maker’s within businesses and non-profit organizations. This position involves relationship building, mainly through phone conversations.

In order to be considered for this position you must:

  • Be able to communicate effectively over the phone and in-person
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships
  • Maintain strong customer focus
  • Be able to research effectively to identify and reach new customers Be able to handle many tasks simultaneously

Requirements:

  • Previous sales experience or related field preferred
  • We will consider entry level candidates who have worked in internship positions with a sales and marketing focus
  • Track record of success in sales or related field
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively
  • Professional history of customer-oriented activity
  • Bottom line or results oriented
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Ability to work long hours, including weekends

Description: The team seeks an individual responsible for all sales and revenue-generating aspects of the business. These areas include corporate sponsors, tickets, groups, special events, and merchandise. He/she will be responsible for setting sales goals as well as implementing a sales approach to be carried out by staff members. Specific responsibilities include making contacts with local as well as national corporations for the purpose of sponsorship sales. He/she is responsible for setting sales goals in each department and overseeing these sales and employees in reaching these goals. Sales calls as well as appointments must be tracked as well as followed up. Ticket areas include season tickets, ticket plans, groups, and individual game tickets. A sales approach as well as management is required in helping the overall attendance of the team grow.
Requirements: The ideal candidate will have previous sales and management experience as well as worked in baseball for two or more years. The candidate must be “hands on” in all aspects of the business. A creative mind and strong work ethic are a must.
